July is for Ruby


Ruby is July's birthstone and known as a gemstone of nobility, purity, and passion. Ruby has been used in jewelry for thousands of years and regarded as a gemstone evoking courage. The ruby is a lustrous, deep red stone whose color ranges from orangey red to purplish red and has accrued special and symbolic meaning throughout time. What gives a ruby its characteristic color? The trace element chromium makes ruby orangey red to purplish red. The more chromium present, the stronger the red color.
